This is one of the key laws needed to open negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the selection of Constitutional Court judges. He announced this in a speech on the evening of Thursday, August 17.

“I have just signed one of the main laws that Ukraine needs to open negotiations with the European Union on the accession of our state. The opening of negotiations is this year. A law that guarantees a transparent, professional and honest selection of Constitutional Court judges,” Zelensky said.

According to him, with the adoption of this law, Ukraine has become one step closer to joining the European Union.

It will be remembered that in December 2022, the Venice Commission gave its opinion on the draft law on the reform of the Constitutional Court.

Ukraine will not be able to fulfill all the recommendations for joining the EU this year
