More than 20 tons of precursors for the manufacture of “goods” and about 150 kg of a psychotropic substance, mephedrone, were confiscated from the bandits for a total amount of more than UAH 30 million.
The press service of the SBU told on August 17 about a multi-stage special operation. In March, the Security Service detained the organizer of a criminal group who was trying to smuggle 15 kg of psychotropic drugs abroad. It turned out to be a former security officer from the National Police Unit for Combating Drug Crime.
He attracted his former colleague to the drug syndicate. He helped to look for smugglers for the covert transportation of prohibited substances through the so-called Zelenka.
At the final stage of the special operation, SBU officers detained a third member of the group in the Kyiv region, who provided “communication” between drug dealers and accomplices.
According to the investigation, the defendants received “goods” for sale from two drug laboratories in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, which produced industrial volumes of mephedrone. All three are in custody.
