The press service of the Central Election Commission announced the decision adopted on August 15.
The calculations were made for the Ministry of Finance, which asked for budget requests for 2024. UAH 5.4 billion is needed for presidential elections, UAH 3.7 billion for the Verkhovna Rada, and UAH 653 million for local elections.
As a reminder, the Constitution prohibits holding any elections during martial law (currently extended until November 15).
The amount announced by the CEC may be revised.
In particular, it will depend on the volume of destruction of critical infrastructure facilities, including electoral infrastructure, and the dynamics of migration processes.
The CEC calculated the costs of the elections in 2024 in accordance with the provisions of Art. 20 of the Electoral Code of Ukraine, according to which, upon termination or cancellation of martial law, a decision is made to call elections (in the event that the electoral process was terminated or did not start due to the introduction of martial law).
