Subramanyam Jaishankar said the format of this summit was allegedly “not designed to discuss security issues”.
Ukraine was not included in the list of invited countries to the G20 summit, which will be held in India, because such a format was allegedly “not created for discussing security issues.” This is what Indian Foreign Minister Subramanyam Jaishankar said, according to EFE.
According to him, India invited nine countries to the summit: Spain, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Mauritius, Egypt, Netherlands, Oman, Singapore and United Arab Emirates. No countries other than those listed above, as well as G20 members, will be allowed to participate in the summit.
“The G20 is an association of countries in charge of global economic growth and development. It is a summit of states designed to discuss problems of energy, fertilizers, food supplies. It is not the UN Security Council, it is none other than the G20,” Jaishankar said.
Recall that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, responded to the Russian attack on Ukrainian ports involved in ensuring global food security. According to him, such attacks by invaders are a blow to the price of food in the world and to social and political stability in Africa and Asia.
