Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko and Finance Minister Christian Lindner signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two countries, which will expand the possibilities of helping Ukraine’s budget in the future. This was announced on August 14 at a press conference of ministers in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
This document provides for providing Berlin with advisory support to Kyiv, in particular in the areas of customs policy, monitoring of financial markets, public investment management, and privatization of state-owned enterprises.
Lindner stressed that the German government would support the Ukrainian people “for as long as necessary.” As of August 14, Germany has already provided 22 billion euros of financial support, of which 12 billion euros of military assistance.
In addition, Berlin has developed a program to support Ukraine until 2027, which provides for annual multifaceted support, including military support, at the level of 5 billion euros annually.
Recall, on July 25, the European Commission announced the allocation of another tranche of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 1.5 billion euros. Brussels is confident that this money will help the state to function and restore infrastructure.
