Such systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be transferred by Norway. Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace has signed a contract with the UK-led International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) to supply Ukraine with unmanned aerial systems. This was reported by the press service of the company.
Several CORTEX Typhon systems will be handed over to the Ukrainian military. These systems can counter a wide range of airborne threats. Enemy drones can be physically harmed, and it is also possible to disable them in another way. The contract value is 56 million pounds sterling, or about 750 million NOK.
Eirik Lee, CEO of Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, is confident that this delivery will significantly enhance the Armed Forces’ anti-drone capabilities and help protect Ukraine’s population and infrastructure.
Recall that the Russian army has changed the tactics of attacks on Ukraine with Shahed-type kamikaze drones. The enemy is trying to use the UAV, taking into account the terrain. They are difficult to shoot down, because it is difficult to accurately predict the flight paths of drones for a timely response by mobile fireteams.
