In the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, heavy rains lashed river banks, damaging roads and infrastructure. In some areas of these states, 273 and 419 mm of rain fell during the past day.
In Uttarakhand, due to landslides, the Char Dham pilgrimage route had to be closed till August 15.
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for both states, saying the intensity of rain should ease on Tuesday.

Recall that on August 3, a landslide occurred in the Georgian resort village of Shovi. As a result of the disaster, 25 people died, including a citizen of Ukraine. So far, eight people are considered missing.
