The Defense Forces will receive $200 million in military assistance. It differs from the previous ones not so much in the amount as in the source of funds. This cost includes air defense ammunition, artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, additional mine clearance equipment. This was announced on August 14 by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, CNN reports.
Today we are announcing another security assistance package designed to help Ukraine defend its territory and its people,” he said.
Blinken stressed that it was Russia that unleashed a full-scale war against Ukraine and could end it at any moment simply by withdrawing its troops from the occupied territories. By that point, however, the US and allies will be at one with Ukraine, and for as long as it takes.
Recall, Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova said that Kyiv is asking the United States of America to extend the lend-lease for the whole of 2024. Now the Ukrainian Armed Forces receive the majority of aid due to additional budgets and changes in budgets, but Kiev is fighting to ensure that the USAI program remains in the US military budget in the first place, and also that the Lend-Lease law is extended.
