British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has announced new sanctions against Russian propagandists and Russia’s state media. It was reported on the British government website.
Foreign Secretary Liz Truss announced on Thursday, March 31, 14 new sanctions against Russian propagandists and state media who spread lies about Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Thus, the well -known TV presenter of Russia’s state television channel Sergey Brilev, who previously lived in the UK, fell under the sanctions. He will no longer be able to access his assets in the UK or continue to do business in the UK.
The government also imposes direct sanctions on state media, including the Kremlin-funded TV channel Novosti, which owns RT (formerly Russia Today) and Rossiya Segodnya, which controls the Sputnik news agency.
Following UK regulator Ofcom’s decision to revoke RT’s broadcast license, these sanctions ensure that the media corporation will no longer be able to return to British TV channels and will prevent companies and individuals operating in the country from doing business with propaganda agencies run by the Russian state RT and Sputnik, as well as key personnel in these organizations.
“Disinformation is part of the Kremlin’s strategy and is used by the Putin regime to cover up the truth about his aggression,” the statement said.
Other propagandists targeted by sanctions include:
-
Alexander Zharov, CEO of Gazprom-media, former head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor),
-
Alexey Nikolov, Managing Director of RT,
-
Anton Anisimov, head of Sputnik International Broadcasting.

Mizintsev was known for using brutal tactics in the war, including the prosecution of civilian neighborhoods in Aleppo in 2015-16, and now – bombing and blockade in Ukrainian Mariupol, ”the British government added.
