The US presidential administration has said it will not be shy about asking Congress again for money for Ukraine, if needed.
The White House said that, if necessary, they will again turn to Congress with a request for additional funds to help Ukraine. John Kirby, coordinator of the US National Security Council, said this at a briefing, Ukrinform reports.
Commenting on the size of the new $20 billion package for Ukraine that the US administration has approached lawmakers with, Kirby emphasized that the amount is based on careful calculations. However, if this is not enough, the government will try to get additional funds.
“We will not hesitate to go back to Congress if we feel the need to do so and ask for more after the first quarter, or if we need to make changes to what we have already asked for,” Kirby added.
He noted that it is not known how long the war unleashed by Russia will continue, therefore it would be irresponsible not to do everything possible to assess Ukraine’s needs in the first quarter of the next fiscal year (after September 30, 2023 ) and submit a corresponding request to Congress.
As reported, the previous day, US President Joe Biden asked Congress for $24 billion for Ukraine.
Remember, the media reported that the total amount of aid allocated by the United States to Ukraine has exceeded the amount of foreign aid.
