Finland is negotiating a long-term presence of US troops in the country

The US military will likely have at least one airport and seaport at its disposal, as well as other facilities.

The Finnish authorities intend to conclude a new defense agreement with the United States, which will allow the American military to remain in the country for a long time, reports Yle.

“Finland is negotiating a new defense cooperation agreement with the United States. The agreement will be unique: Finland will allow the presence of foreign troops on its territory for longer than usual military exercises,” the material said.

If an agreement is reached, the US military will have access to certain facilities in Finland for the purpose of using them for training, storing weapons, maintaining equipment, and so on.

“US troops are likely to have at least one airfield and port at their disposal, as well as some kind of training zone,” the publication said.

We are talking about a temporary stay of the US military, but “time intervals may be consecutive.”

It was previously reported that Finland expects a wave of illegal immigrants from the Russian Federation and is preparing for possible border changes.

Finland will develop a plan for the restoration of Ukraine
