On Thursday, August 10, a large fire broke out near the commercial port of Chef de Bay in La Rochelle. The Sica Atlantique grain silo caught fire and the fire spread to three adjacent silos. The lining of the granary, where there are thousands of tons of wheat, is on fire. This was reported by the local edition of France Bleu.
It is preliminary known that inside the silo the conveyor belt that transports the grain caught fire. A hundred-meter security perimeter has already been organized around the fire objects. And 110 m from the silos there are warehouses with fuel.
A large plume of black smoke was seen several kilometers from the site of a large-scale fire. About 100 firefighters are trying to put out the fire.

Recall that on August 7 in Turkey in the port of Derince there was a powerful explosion that damaged 13 out of 16 grain elevators. It was this port that received grain cargo from Ukraine as part of the “grain initiative”.
