Kyiv gave Washington the first report on the use of American cluster munitions at the front.
Ukraine provided the Pentagon with a report on the use of American cluster munitions that the Armed Forces of Ukraine received from the United States as part of military aid. This was reported by CNN.
According to the Ukrainian official, the information provided to the Pentagon contained data on both the number of cluster shells fired and the number of Russian targets destroyed.
The report was released in response to a US request as part of an agreement to send cluster artillery shells, known as DPICM, to Ukraine.
The Pentagon has not yet commented on this information.
Last month, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov told CNN that he planned to hand over the report to his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin.
Recall that in July the United States gave cluster munitions to Ukraine. American President Joe Biden said that such ammunition will help the Ukrainian military to continue the counter-offensive.
Cluster munitions have been banned by the relevant international convention since May 2008. By 2022, 123 countries had joined. Neither the United States, nor Ukraine, nor Russia signed this document.
