Ecuadorian presidential candidate shot at campaign rally

An Ecuadorian presidential candidate was shot during an election rally in the country’s capital, Quito. On Thursday, August 10, El Universo reports.

Fernando Villavicencio spoke at a rally in one of the city’s colleges. When the politician finished his speech, he was shot by a group of assassins.

According to eyewitnesses, they heard shots, after which the seriously wounded presidential candidate died.

In all, around eight people were injured in the shooting, sources said.

Elections in Ecuador will be held on August 20.
