Court remands judge who knocked National Guardsman to death in custody

Aleksey Tandyr will remain in custody without the possibility of bail until at least 26 August.

The court rejected the appeal of Judge Aleksey Tandyr, who in May killed a National Guard fighter at a checkpoint in Kyiv. He will remain in custody, reports Suspіlne.

The court dismissed an appeal by Tandyr’s lawyers for a restraining order. The suspect will remain in custody until August 26 without the right to bail.

Recall that on the evening of May 26, the head of the Makarovsky District Court of the Kyiv region, Alexei Tandyr, near a checkpoint in the capital, shot a 23-year-old fighter of the National Guard. The soldier died on the spot from his injuries.

The referee is driving while drunk. Suspicion was revealed to him, and later a preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention without the possibility of bail.

The Supreme Council of Justice temporarily removed Tandyr from his duties as a judge.
