Polish Intelligence Services Deputy Minister-Coordinator Stanislav Zharin said in an interview today that the country’s counterintelligence officers have broken one of Russia’s spy networks. As part of this case, the Poles detained 16 people associated with Russian intelligence.
“The Internal Security Agency managed not only to identify and stop spies, but also to investigate and reveal the method of action used by the Russians in this type of activity against Poland,” said Zharin on the air of Polish Radio .
Belarusian who worked for Moscow
The last agent from this network was arrested on August 1. It turned out to be 39-year-old Belarusian citizen Mikhail A, who lived in Russia for many years. According to intelligence services, the man worked in Moscow in 2008-2010 and then moved to St. Petersburg. At the same time, he served a six-year term in the Russian Federation.
“The man maintains contacts with Russian citizens whom he met in St. Petersburg and Crimea,” the statement of the service of the coordinating minister of special services said.
Mikhail A. arrived in Poland in 2021 and contacted the spy network coordinator.
“The information received indicates that for the performance of tasks directed against the internal security and interests of Poland, he received a systematic reward,” the intelligence service said.

Belarusians also took over military installations and ports and carried out propaganda activities. He systematically informs customers about intelligence results.
The court, at the request of the Lublin prosecutor’s office and out of fear of the suspect’s escape, applied a measure of deterrence to Russian espionage in the form of detention.

In total, 15 agents were detained from this spy network, among them Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians. All of them have been arrested by court order.
The main activity of the network is to identify military installations and critical infrastructure in Poland, monitoring and documenting the transport of military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
