The water level in the port areas of the city of Gothenburg on the west coast of Sweden reached 70-80 cm in some places.
The Geta River burst its banks and flooded the Fishing Port of the city of Gothenburg on Sweden’s west coast. This is due to Typhoon Hans, which brought a large amount of rain, according to the SVT TV channel.
It is worth noting that the port area, where vehicles usually park between the fish auction building and the river, is completely flooded. The water level in the area reached 70-80 cm in some places.
A strong wind drives seawater into the mouth of the Geta, overflowing the lower reaches of the river. The city of Gothenburg shut down drinking water from the river because of the risk of untreated sewage from an upstream treatment plant entering the Goethe.
The Swedish weather service has issued a “red alert” in five provinces of the country. The strongest blows of the elements fell on the west coast, in the southern province of Skåne and on the island of Gotland.
It will be remembered that the other day a heavy hail of 30 cm thick covered the streets in the city of Reutlingen in Germany. To clear the streets of large deposits of ice, public utilities hire snowplows.
At the end of July, in the Italian city of Azzano Decimo, an iceberg 19 cm in diameter was found – such ice is considered the largest of those that fell in Europe.
