The ban on the purchase of petroleum products from the Russian Federation will take effect in eight months.
At the same time, all restrictions do not apply to supplies through the Druzhba pipeline.
Note that the sixth package of sanctions still needs to be approved by the EU Council.
Recall that on the eve of the EU leaders reached a compromise on the issue of a ban on Russian oil imports. The embargo will affect 90% of all Russia’s oil imports by the end of this year.
The remaining 10 or 11% goes to the southern branch of the Druzhba pipeline in Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. There is a temporary exemption for these countries.
