Belarus wants to accept monks from the Kyiv Lavra

The Synod of the BOC said that the events taking place in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra are “with deep sadness” and may give the monks a place in their cloisters.

The synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, which belongs to the Moscow Patriarchate, expressed its readiness to “accept” the monks of the UOC-MP, who must leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. This is stated in the appeal of the BOC Synod published on Tuesday, July 4.

The Synod sees the events taking place in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra “with deep sadness”. They also expressed their support for the UOC-MP “at this difficult time.”

According to the BOC, the Ukrainian authorities, allegedly, despite the protests of tens of thousands of believers, continue with “insidious raids on the great shrine of all Orthodox believers, leaving their godless which were attempts to destroy the cradle of the Eastern Slavic Orthodox faith. people.”

The BOC also says they are ready to “accept” the UOC-MP monks if they are forced to leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. They can provide a place for further life in the cloisters of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

As you know, on January 1, 2023, the contract between the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra reserve and the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra (monastery) of the UOC on the provision of the Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church for time-based in free use has expired.

Recall that on Tuesday, a national reserve commission came to the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. It must seal buildings not involved in the religious activities of the monastery.
