Budapest has already blocked 500 million euros in military aid from the EU and is threatening to block future aid to Ukraine.

Hungary has announced that it will continue to block EU funds for military aid to Ukraine if Kyiv does not exclude Hungarian bank OTP from the list of international war sponsors. This statement was made at a briefing on Tuesday, July 4, by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

“Our position is clear: until the OTP is removed from this list, Hungary will not support any funding within the EU for arms supplies to Ukraine,” Szijjártó said.

According to him, we are talking not only about 500 million euros, which the government has already blocked, but also about proposals for assistance to Ukraine in the future.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister stressed that Kiev’s arguments in favor of the bank being on this list are “ridiculous”, and the financial organization itself ensures that its participation in the Russian banking sector does not exceed 0.1% .

It will be recalled that last week Hungary blocked 500 million euros of EU military aid to Ukraine, demanding that OTP Bank be removed from the Ukrainian list of international sponsors of war.
