Ukraine will not receive modern Western fighters at least until the end of the current counter-offensive, the head of the NATO Military Committee, Rob Bauer, said in an interview with LBC radio station.

The fighter debate is important, but it will not be resolved in the short term for this counteroffensive. Training pilots, training technical personnel, providing logistics that can support these aircraft will not be available to complete the counteroffensive, Bauer said.
According to him, it is “important and understandable” that Ukraine is asking for Western fighters, but “we should not confuse this with the discussion of a counter-offensive now.”
Asked if Ukraine could win the war against Russia without fighter jets, Bauer said:
I think that Ukraine has an advantage because it has Western weapons systems, it has the best training and, very importantly, much higher morale and motivation.
Earlier, Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny reproached the Western allies for pushing the Ukrainian Defense Forces into an offensive without aviation, although NATO doctrine provides for air superiority for launching deep penetration ground operations.
