The head of state was shocked when the media reported on his conversations with William Burns.
Ukraine has no secrets from the CIA, but communication with the head of the intelligence service, William Burns, must remain “behind the scenes.” This was said by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with CNN, the abstract of which was published on July 3.
According to media reports, the head of the US Central Intelligence Agency visited Kyiv in June, where he met with the Ukrainian leader and intelligence officials.
Zelensky stressed that he was surprised when the press reported on his conversations with Burns.
“My communication with the head of the CIA must always take place behind the scenes. We discuss important things – what Ukraine needs and how Ukraine is ready to act,” said the head of state.
He added that the Ukrainian authorities have no secrets from the CIA.
“The situation is quite simple. We have a good relationship with the head of the CIA, we talk. I told him about all the important things related to the battlefield that we need,” said Zelensky.
Recall, on June 30, The Washington Post reported that Burns made a secret visit to Ukraine, where representatives of the Ukrainian authorities discussed with him the liberation of territories occupied by the Russians, as well as also the beginning of ceasefire negotiations in Moscow.
