Poland is strengthening border security with Belarus

The Polish border guard said on Sunday that 187 people tried to illegally cross the Polish border from Belarus on Saturday.

Poland will send 500 police officers to its border with Belarus, Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminsky said.

“Due to the tense situation on the border with Belarus, I decided to strengthen our forces with 500 police officers from the preventive and counter-terrorism unit,” Kaminsky wrote on Twitter.

They will be accompanied by 5,000 border guards and 2,000 soldiers who guard the security of this border, he added.

The Polish border guard said on Sunday that 187 people tried to illegally cross the Polish border from Belarus on Saturday.

The situation on the Polish-Belarusian border has remained tense since 2021, when the number of attempts to illegally cross the border from Belarus to Poland increased significantly. Since the beginning of 2023, the Border Guard Service has recorded more than 12,000 attempts to illegally cross the border from Belarus to Poland.

It should be recalled that the former President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that NATO should consider in detail the issue of the overthrow of the Wagner group in Belarus and the deployment of nuclear weapons there.
