So far, not a single Wagner PMC unit has been mentioned on the territory of Belarus, but Ukrainian intelligence agencies are working to get information about it.
As of now, July 1, no Wagner PMC units have been transferred to Belarus, Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, commander of the joint forces, said in a commentary for Ukrinform.
“Currently, until now, not a single unit of PMC Wagner has been mentioned on the territory of Belarus. But we are aware of the further development of the situation, and our intelligence agencies are working to get information about it. If it happened this, the military command will know it,” he said.
Naev added that in the event that the Wagnerites appear in Belarus, the military leadership is considering several scenarios for the development of events.
“In each of them, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will take adequate measures, the forces are trained to counter possible demonstrations,” the general said.
It was also noted that the Ukrainian intelligence and the partners of Ukraine are monitoring the situation in Belarus, in particular, regarding the possible movement of nuclear weapons, but so far there is no confirmed information about such movements.
It was previously reported that PMC Wagner continues to recruit militants across Russia for the war in Ukraine. This happens despite the recent unsuccessful attempt at a rebellion by Yevgeny Prigozhin, who owns this PMC.
