In order for the Ukrainian counter-offensive to act faster, the Armed Forces of Ukraine need more weapons, the commander-in-chief said.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny told The Washington Post that he was annoyed by outside comments that Ukraine’s counteroffensive was slower than expected.
“I am irritated when I hear that the long-awaited Ukrainian counter-offensive in the east and south of the country has started much slower than expected. Our troops are advancing every day, even if it is only 500 meters,” said he.
Zaluzhny said the counteroffensive is not a show. “This is not a show that the whole world watches, a bet or something. Every day, every meter is given blood,” the commander-in-chief emphasized.
For the Ukrainian counteroffensive to act faster, Zaluzhny said he needs more of each type of weapon, as well as air superiority – F-16 fighter. Without full support for the troops, these plans are usually unrealistic, but in spite of everything, “it is carried out.”
“Yes, maybe not as fast as the participants of the show, observers like, but this is their problem,” summed up the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It will be remembered that the previous Secretary of State of the United States, Anthony Blinken, said that the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has just begun, and the main units have not yet participated in it. He ensured that the Ukrainian troops were provided with everything necessary to achieve victory.
It was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine intercepted the strategic initiative in the direction of Bakhmut and is conducting an offensive on a wide front. There is some progress in the Tauride direction.
