Russia’s military budget for 2023 is $85.8 billion, calculated by the Stockholm Institute for Peace Research.
Russia’s military spending budget this year is about 6.6 trillion rubles ($85.8 billion). However, this number could be higher. About that reported UK Ministry of Defense on Twitter.
British intelligence officers analyzed the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) report for June 2023 on Russia’s war spending.
According to SIPRI, Russia’s military budget for 2023 is about 6.6 trillion rubles ($85.8 billion). This is equivalent to about 4.4% of Russia’s GDP, compared to 3.6% in 2021, before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“Real Russian military spending remains uncertain due to a lack of transparency, especially due to the use of classified budget items, which make up about 22% of the total Russian government budget,” said the British intelligence.
The Defense Ministry added that while a portion of Russia’s defense budget is being spent on the war in Ukraine, the increase in spending reflects the cost of Russia’s activities in Ukraine.
“In addition, Russia will almost certainly face additional direct spending on the defense budget because of the war, including spending on security in the occupied regions and defense measures in the regions bordering Ukraine,” concluded intelligence.
Remember, according to media reports, from the beginning of 2023, the secret spending of the Russian budget will reach three trillion rubles (37.5 billion dollars). So, they make up about 26%.
In May, revenues from the oil and gas industry to the budget fell in Russia.
