Bell said the company continues to supply its products directly to Russia, despite its promises to leave the Russian market by 2022.
Since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the international alcohol producer Bacardi has tripled its revenue from sales in Russia. However, in 2022 the company promised to leave the Russian market. This was stated in an investigation by The Bell.
The company continues direct delivery of its products to Russia, media reports. Bacardi, in particular, conducts contract bottling of its distillates at the Georgievsky plant in Krasnoznamensk, Moscow Region.
The value of fixed assets of the Russian branch of Bacardi in 2022 compared to 2021 increased from 57 to 850 million rubles. The income of the branch increased from 30.1 billion rubles to 32.6 billion, and the net profit tripled – from 1.5 to almost 4.7 billion rubles.
After February 24, 2022, Bacardi received four declarations of compliance for the import of alcoholic beverages. It allows you to export alcohol for a long time.
In March 2022, Bacardi International posted a statement on its website condemning Russia’s attack on Ukraine. The company promised to donate a million dollars to the Red Cross and Mercy Corps, stop exporting to Russia and freeze advertising investments. Promises to freeze exports and marketing spending were lost in the text after the press copied the announcement.
Bacardi International is the largest family-owned wine producer in the world. The company owns brands such as Bacardí rum, Gray Goose vodka, Patrón tequila, Aberfeldy, Dewar’s, William Lawson’s whiskey, Bombay Sapphire gin, Martini & Rossi vermouth and wine and many others.
Earlier it was reported that the Swedish manufacturer of the vodka company Absolut will stop the supply of alcohol to Russia. The decision was made after criticism of the company against the background of the continuation of the sale of Swedish alcohol in Russia by the French concern Pernod Ricard.
