In counter-offensive operations, Ukraine has not used the main reserves of troops, including most of the brigades trained in Western countries and equipped with modern NATO tanks and armored vehicles.
The counter-offensive of the Ukrainian front defenders has just begun and the main units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have not yet taken part in it. This was announced on Wednesday, June 28, by the Secretary of State of the United States, Anthony Blinken, reports the press service of the US State Department.
“The counter-offensive is just at the beginning and you heard the Ukrainian Defense Minister say yesterday that they have not yet committed most of their forces to this offensive. And there is no doubt that it will not be easy, because the Russians have months, months and months to build a defense,” he said.
Blinken added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have everything needed to win and return all the territories occupied by the Russians and expressed confidence that the main events related to the counteroffensive will take place in the coming weeks and months.
Blinken also pointed out that against the backdrop of a full-scale invasion of the territory of Ukraine, the Russian Federation significantly weakened its position in the international arena.
“Moscow has become militarily and economically weak, the position of the Russian Federation in the world has fallen sharply, Europe has abandoned Russian energy, and NATO has grown stronger,” Blinken said.
Recall that the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated Rivnopol in the Donetsk region. It became the ninth settlement to be liberated from Russian occupiers during the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It can be recalled that, according to British Defense Minister Ben Wallace, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have recovered approximately 300 square kilometers as part of the summer campaign to liberate the territories. This number is more than the area occupied by Russia during its “massive” winter offensive.
The decisive phase lies ahead. How is the counteroffensive?
