The corresponding declaration was adopted by the Croatian Parliament. This vote is historic and a testament to the fact that the world will never accept Moscow’s crimes, past or present. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on Twitter on June 28, where he thanked the deputies of Croatia.
The decision of the Croats was also welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba. On Twitter, he noted that by November 2022, only 15 countries recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. Since that time, this crime of the Kremlin has been condemned by 27 other countries. Croatia became the 27th country to recognize the Holodomor as genocide.
I thank them for listening to our pleas and invite others to join. The recognition honors the victims and warns future generations to prevent genocide.
Recall that on May 17, the French Senate adopted a resolution recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of Ukrainians. The resolution adopted by the parliamentarians called for the French government to officially recognize “the famine, deportation and extermination, methodically organized by the Soviet government against millions of Ukrainians in 1932 and 1933, as genocide.”
