Stoltenberg: NATO is ready to protect allies from Russia and Belarus

A clear signal was sent to Moscow and Minsk that “NATO exists to protect every ally, every inch of NATO territory.”

NATO is ready to defend all countries of the bloc from potential attacks from Belarus and Russia. This is what NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in a joint press conference with the leaders of the seven countries of the Alliance in The Hague (Netherlands), reports CNN.

According to him, a clear signal was sent to Moscow and Minsk that “NATO exists to protect every ally, every centimeter of NATO territory.”

Stoltenberg also said that the events related to the uprising of the mercenaries of the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin are “internal affairs of Russia.”

Let’s add that the representatives of NATO countries at the conference, answering the questions of journalists about possible security problems that may arise in connection with the migration of “Wagnerites” to Belarus, noted that it is too early to draw any final conclusions.

Recall that a meeting of the State Security Council was held in Lithuania, where an attempted rebellion by PMC Wagner was discussed. The Lithuanian President believes that the security of the eastern borders should be further strengthened if Prigozhin or part of the Wagner group ends up in Belarus.

ISW suggested why Lukashenka called Prigozhin
