Ukraine received 120,000 doses of pertussis, diphtheria and tetanus vaccines from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). On Tuesday, June 27, the Ministry of Health reported.
The department noted that the vaccines provided by the international organization will help prevent the spread of infectious diseases in Ukraine.
“DPT vaccination provides protection to children against serious infectious diseases. Whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus can have serious consequences for the health of children, especially in times of war, when access to medical care may be limited,” said the Deputy Minister of Health. Chief State Sanitary Doctor Igor Kuzin.
He said that the received vaccines will be distributed to the regions.
Kuzin recalled that vaccination against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough is included in the Preventive Immunization Schedule and is free of charge.
“According to the national vaccination schedule, the DPT vaccine is given at the age of 2, 4, 6 and 18 months, then at six years of age, a revaccination with the ADS vaccine (diphtheria-tetanus) is carried out, and at 16 years old – with the ADS-M vaccine (against tetanus and diphtheria). reduced antigen content used for adults),” he recalled.
Russians in the occupied territories of the Kherson region carry out selective vaccination. Vaccinations are given to their military, partners and holders of Russian passports.
