Ukraine is following the same path followed by other countries bordering Russia for the past 30 years, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands believes.
The Netherlands is actively working to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense “so that people don’t die.” On Tuesday, June 27, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte said this in The Hague at a press conference following a working meeting with the participation of the heads of state and government of Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Albania, Belgium and Norway.
He emphasized that the protection of civilians is one of the priorities of the Dutch government.
“We are working to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses, and we will remain committed to ensuring that cities and innocent civilians are protected from brutal Russian missile attacks now and in the years to come,” he stressed. .
Speaking about the prospects for Ukraine’s membership in NATO, Rutte said that this issue will be one of the main issues at the summit in Lithuania. He also pointed out that Putin will not have any influence on the choice of Kyiv, as well as on the expansion of NATO.
“Putin’s plan has backfired because of his ruthless aggression. He hoped to tear us apart, but now he knows we will continue to stand up for our collective security. And when it comes to further shaping NATO’s relationship with Ukraine, it depends on Ukraine and all members of our alliance, and not on Vladimir Putin and not on the Russian Federation,” he said.
It was previously reported that the Netherlands plans to buy dozens of Leopard 1 tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
It will be recalled that a week ago it was learned that the Dutch government canceled an agreement to sell its F-16 fighter jet to a private company, Draken International. This came after the United States supported a joint effort to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation fighter jets, including the F-16.
