The Lithuanian President believes that the security of the eastern borders should be further strengthened if Prigozhin or part of the Wagner group ends up in Belarus.
In Lithuania, a meeting of the State Security Council was held, where an attempted rebellion by Wagner’s CHIK was discussed, The Guardian reports.
After the meeting, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said NATO would have to strengthen its eastern flank if Belarus was to accept Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin.
“If Prigozhin or part of the Wagner group goes to Belarus with vague plans and incomprehensible intentions, it only means that we need to further strengthen the security of our eastern borders.”
Earlier, the Kremlin announced that Prigozhin would leave for Belarus under Putin’s personal guarantee.
Before that, the leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, said that he spoke with Prigozhin and agreed to suspend the movement of mercenaries in Russia.
