June 23 results: Prigozhin’s rebellion and new EU sanctions

The European Council approved 11 packages of economic and individual restrictive measures aimed at strengthening existing EU sanctions against the Russian Federation and stopping their evasion. The list of export restrictions includes 87 defense industry companies, including third-country companies involved in the sale of drones from Iran and evasion of sanctions. Thus, for the first time, the EU included as a preventive measure in the package the possibility of expanding the ban on the export of goods to third countries where goods subject to sanctions entered Russia. It allows, in particular, to ban the export of sensitive dual-use goods and certain goods related to the defense industry. In addition, the decision expanded the list of prohibited goods that could contribute to the technological improvement of Russia’s defense and security sector. In addition to the economic sanctions, the Council decided to include a large number of additional individuals and entities on the list. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the EU sanctions “illegitimate, undermining the international legal prerogatives of the UN Security Council.”

Ukraine has not yet engaged major military forces in the current counter-offensive, so “everything is still early.” This was said by the commander of the Ground Forces, Colonel-General Alexander Syrsky. According to him, the Russians have thought of places where the Armed Forces of Ukraine can deliver the strongest blows and build a strong defense in these places. Syrsky said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now searching, probing for weaknesses in the enemy’s defense.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped the Russians in the direction of Limansky and Kupyansky, and the number of military clashes there decreased to two. This was stated by the spokesman of the Eastern Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty. “The enemy tried for several days to actively attack our positions in the direction of Limansko-Kupyansky, received a strong rebuff. These days, the enemy reduced his intentions, there were only two skirmishes military. But the most active enemy was in the Limansko -Kupyansky direction with artillery defeating our positions. He hit our positions 535 times with artillery of different calibers and systems, there were 13 air raids, Cherevaty said.

Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in the evening about the unsuccessful attempts of the attackers to attack in a number of directions. It is noted that the enemy continues to focus its main efforts in the directions of Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky and Maryinsky, heavy fighting continues. During the day there were more than 27 battle battles.

In Ukraine, the Unified Register of Weapons is fully functional, said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klymenko. According to him, the main advantage of implementing the EPO is that citizens can easily get information about their registered weapons. Also simplify the procedure for obtaining permits for weapons. The unified register of weapons involves the creation of electronic cabinets.
