The Russian Federation continues to show no apparent interest in ending the war, the US points out.

The United States does not believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin is in the mood for peace talks to end the war in Ukraine, as he continues to bomb cities and civilians. African countries that took Putin’s words about his “peace plans” with confidence should not believe him. This was announced on Wednesday, June 21, by Deputy Press Secretary of the US State Department Vedant Patel, writes Ukrinform.

“Actions speak louder than words and I repeat again that both African leaders spent time in a bomb shelter during their visit to Kiev when they were in the city to promote and discuss peace proposals, ” said Patel.

He emphasized that Russia has no interest in establishing peace or ending the war.

“From Russia’s bombing actions in Kiev, targeting civilian and energy infrastructure, apartment buildings, hospitals, it is clear that they have no significant interest in establishing peace and ending the war,” said the deputy State Department press secretary. .

Patel added that it is quite clear who wants a strong and just peace, and who – the continuation of aggression against a neighboring country.

It will be recalled that in a meeting with a delegation of African leaders on Saturday, June 17, the Russian president said that Ukraine, not Russia, rejects “peace talks.” He even showed African representatives the “initial draft treaty” with Ukraine, which was being prepared in March 2022 in Istanbul, but did not mention that the delegations of both sides were not authorized to conclude any such agreement.

Recall that African leaders left for Russia, where they met with Putin. The head of the Kremlin regime tried to justify the invasion of Ukraine.
