Britain’s non-military aid to Ukrainian citizens will amount to more than $6 billion, including $820 million in bilateral aid.
The UK will provide a $3 billion financial support package for Ukraine with World Bank loan guarantees and £240 million ($305 million) of bilateral aid. This is what British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said at the opening of the international conference on the continuation of Ukraine in London on Wednesday, June 21.
“I am proud that today we are announcing our multi-year support to the Ukrainian economy. And over the next three years, we will provide $3 billion in loan guarantees. We are also launching a new technology bridge between the UK and Ukraine to attract investment and talent, as well as support green energy and more. All this is part of a larger collective effort by allies and partners around the world, including significant new support from the EU, which will also be announced this week,” he said.
Part of the money should be spent on demining the Ukrainian territory, energy projects, as well as financing the activities of the UN and the Red Cross.
Thus, British non-military aid to Ukraine will amount to more than 4.7 billion pounds (more than 6 billion dollars), including 4.1 billion pounds (more than 5.23 billion dollars) in financial support and 640 million pounds sterling (about 817 million dollars) of bilateral aid.
Recall that a conference dedicated to the restoration of Ukraine is currently taking place in London. More than a thousand representatives from 61 countries, including officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations, business leaders and entrepreneurs, are taking part in it.
Earlier, the British government’s website announced a “historic” aid package to Ukraine, which included a World Bank loan guarantee for $3 billion to boost the country’s economic stability.
