The US is allocating nearly $172 million for humanitarian aid to Sudan and neighboring countries

Washington allocated additional funds to support vulnerable groups and those forced to flee the conflict.

The US has announced nearly $172 million in additional humanitarian aid for Sudan and neighboring countries suffering from the consequences of the humanitarian crisis. This was announced on June 20 by the State Department.

It was noted that in the current fiscal year, Washington allocated more than $550 million to Sudan and neighboring countries, including Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, South Sudan and the Central African Republic, to help refugees, internally displaced persons people and people affected by conflict.

It can be recalled that the conflict in Sudan has been ongoing since mid-April between the Rapid Reaction Forces (RSF) and the country’s regular army.

On June 17, an airstrike in Khartoum killed seventeen people, including five children.
