The head of the Defense Ministry said that Kyiv will receive Western fighters from partners no earlier than the New Year.
Ukraine will not receive Western combat aircraft from allies until the New Year. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov in an interview.
“Not before (New Year’s Day Ukraine will receive planes – ed.). And this is symbolic. Because last year Christmas and New Year I wrote an appeal to Santa Claus, in which I ask for help in the interest of children of Ukraine so they can learn, walk to schools and kindergartens. I asked Santa for some things: artillery, shells, tanks, etc.,” explained the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
The Minister added that in the letter to Santa Claus, he also drew a small plane.
According to him, it would be logical that at least by the New Year “the first F-16 will leave.”
As already mentioned, the State Department said that the United States considers providing Ukraine with F-16 fighters a priority and that it will begin to implement it in cooperation with allies and partners in the coming months.
In addition, US President Joe Biden approved plans to train Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 fighter jet. It is known that Ukrainian pilots have already started training on these aircraft.
