So far, only 19,499 deportees have accurate information. 373 children were returned.
Russia can take 200-300 thousand children from Ukraine. This was announced by the adviser – the authorized representative of the President of Ukraine for the rights of child and child rehabilitation Daria Gerasimchuk in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency, published on June 19.
“According to our own calculations, we can talk about 200-300 thousand children that they (the Russians) might have kidnapped. Why can’t we give the exact number? First, the territories are occupied. No exact information about what happened to the children. Only after the de-occupation settlement, will we have accurate information,” she said.
At the same time, only 19,499 such children are known to date (as of June 16, 2023). He is from the registry of the National Information Bureau – the body that receives applications from parents, relatives, witnesses, local authorities on the fact of deportation and forced removal of a child.
“So, about 19,499 children, there is personal data about them, we understand who these children are and where they were abducted. However, this does not mean that we know where this child is. So we continue to search ,” the authorized representative said. .
He added that Ukraine was able to return 373 children from Russia, and this did not happen through negotiations.
“They do not recognize these children as being held, detained, deported, forcibly transferred. They call it ‘evacuation’… There is not yet any coordination or organized group on the Russian side. All this is happening now in a ‘manual mode’. Therefore, it happens very slowly. Unfortunately, every time we talk about a separate, individually designed special operation to save almost every one of our children, “Gerasimchuk stressed .
The Commissioner for Children’s Rights also explained how the Russians “adopted” Ukrainian orphans.
“The Russians are cunning, they understand that adoption is against the law. Like placing children in family education forms, they call it “temporary care.” And although they publicly declare that “adopted us” or “given for adoption”, but in fact, the documents are temporary care,” he said.
In addition, there is a tendency for children with parents to “disappear” after being taken to the camps.
“The child is taken to the camp. Of course, no one returns the child later. Not only do they tell the child: “You are not coming back,” “Your parents left you” … Children are taken to camps inside of six months … After six months, they considered that such children were left without parental care. Allegedly, no one came and took them. And then they were sent to the educational methods of family … That is, they use all possible schemes to deprive children of their biological families,” said Gerasimchuk.
It was previously reported that Russia is changing the names and dates of birth of illegally deported Ukrainian children.
