This was announced in his Telegram channel by the head of the Kharkov military garrison Sergey Melnik.
The incident happened today, June 18th.
The press service of the State Emergency Service of the region notes that the man accidentally stepped on an enemy anti-personnel mine PFM-1 “Petal”, which was in tall grass.
As a result of the explosion, the man received a traumatic amputation of the toes of his right foot. The victim is being treated at a medical facility, the department said.
The State Emergency Service urges citizens to remember the high mine danger in the region and urges:
- do not drive on unknown or untested dirt roads;
- do not touch any suspicious and unfamiliar objects;
- not to visit forests, forest belts, fields, floodplains and other open spaces – especially those where there were battles or were under hostile occupation;
- if a suspicious item is found, report the discovery to the State Emergency Service or the National Police by calling “101”, “102” or “112”.
