Ukraine was forced to completely reform its logistics. If before the war, almost 60% of all trade went through ports, now most exports are transported by rail and road.
Vice Prime Minister for Restoration – Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov presented promising Ukrainian logistics projects at the G7 Transport Ministers’ Summit in Japan. Kubrakov announced this on Facebook.
In particular, “transport visa-free” projects were presented.
“We now have something to show and offer to international partners. First of all, we managed to turn the Danube port into a strong logistics hub in a short period of time. Thanks to the modernization of the port infrastructure, dredging of berths, we were able to increase transshipment in Danube ports by 4.5 times,” said Kubrakov.
The Minister also said that Ukraine is developing “transport visa-free” with the European Union, road and rail border infrastructure, as well as logistics potential.
According to him, Ukraine, an export-oriented country, was forced to completely reform its logistics. Until February 24, 2022, almost 60% of all trade passed through ports, but today most exports and imports are transported by rail and road.
“It has also been a challenge for neighboring countries. Blocking agricultural exports by land against the backdrop of an unstable grain corridor could turn into a food disaster for the world,” he added. .
Kubrakov noted that global solutions and a clear strategy for international support for the development of alternative logistics routes are needed.
It will be remembered that earlier the European Union extended restrictions on the import of grain from Ukraine until September. It is also reported that the Poles are demanding a ban on Ukrainian strawberries.
