The missiles for the Patriot systems are needed to support the Armed Forces’ successful efforts to provide air defense, Pistorius said.
Germany plans to “immediately” transfer to Ukraine 64 guided missiles for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system. This is what German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said, ntv reported on Friday, June 16.
“This is a very important sign of continued support for the successful efforts of the Ukrainian armed forces to provide air defense, especially now, at this special stage of the war,” Pistorius said at a meeting of defense ministers of NATO in Brussels.
It was noted that the missiles will be delivered to Ukraine without delay.
As you know, Ukraine now has two Patriot air defense batteries. One was given by the United States, the second – by Germany along with the Netherlands. Ukraine needs 50 Patriot batteries to effectively defend against Russian attacks, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Recall that today the air defense forces shot down six Russian Kinzhal missiles aimed at Kyiv. So far, only Patriot has fired such missiles.
Ukraine will receive hundreds of missiles for air defense
