This was reported by Reuters on June 15.
According to a draft document seen by a Reuters correspondent, other “confidence measures” that African leaders want to propose include stopping the International Criminal Court’s warrant for the arrest of Vladimir Putin on charges of war crimes, and withdrawing Russia’s tactical nuclear campaign.
The African mediation mission included the presidents of South Africa, Senegal, Egypt, Zambia and the Comoros.
On Thursday, the African delegation met in Warsaw with the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, on Friday, according to the plan, it will arrive in Kiev and talk with Vladimir Zelensky, and on Saturday, in St. Petersburg, it will meet with Russian dictator Putin.
Most Ukrainian, Russian, European and American politicians and international observers view the prospects for the mediation mission of African leaders with skepticism.
