The commander of the 96th missile brigade, Sergei Yaremenko (Granit), spoke about the work of the anti-aircraft gunners on May 16, when the attack with “Daggers” was massed.

Then, almost simultaneously, 16 ballistic targets flew from different directions, most of them aimed at the Patriot complex. The anti-aircraft gunners acted in a coordinated and organized manner, distributed the targets into sectors and let the missiles reach the minimum distance, after which they destroyed them.
The commander added that he was shocked by the endurance of the anti-aircraft gunners – they understood that they were attacking them, but did not panic for a second.
Yaremenko said that even before May 4, no one was sure that the Patriot was capable of destroying Kh-47 missiles.
All training sessions on the use of the Patriot complex for various types of ballistic missiles in service with the aggressor country were carried out in simulation mode. And even during the simulation of the air situation, the results were not 100 percent, Armyinform reported.
Anti-aircraft gunners have a tradition of marking destroyed targets on the complexes, but Yaremenko says that the Kinzhal stencil has not yet been made, although in general, over several months of work, the Patriot has already destroyed more than 80 air targets.
It was interesting to review the Russian publics, where they convinced that the Patriot used American calculations, because it is impossible to study it within the time period allocated by the partner countries. In fact, the commander of the unit, which studied in the United States, called a month later and convinced: “Remove us, we have already studied everything, we know how, we are ready to defend Ukraine!” Of course, besides destroying air targets, there are many other important aspects, for example, the rapid change of positions. Therefore, we continue to analyze the work of Western complexes, we study all its subtleties, the rocket scientist said.
In his opinion, Patriot is one of the most advanced air defense systems. However, it is obvious that it cannot work on its own.
To protect Ukraine, it is necessary to have a sufficient number of air defense systems of various types, both short and medium range, which, in a single air defense system, will cover all objects.
