MEPs called on the European Union to impose new sanctions against the aggressor country.
The Deputies of the European Parliament condemned the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam by the Russians and called it a war crime of the Russian Federation, which will have consequences. This was stated in the statement of the EP on June 14.
MEPs condemned the destruction of the Ukrainian dam in Nova Kakhovka, the latest war crime committed by Russia that must bring consequences.
The MPs also urged the EU to continue its strong support for Ukraine, impose new sanctions against Russia and use billions in frozen assets of Russian oligarchs to rebuild Ukraine.
Also at the meeting, politicians described their expectations from the EU summit on June 29-30 in the light of recent events in Ukraine and progress towards the conclusion of the EU Migration Pact.
Recall that on the night of June 6, the Russian invaders blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. The station was completely destroyed and could not be restored. The Kakhovka reservoir has already lost 72% of its water.
While it is known about ten dead in Kherson and two dead in Nikolaev regions. 42 people are considered missing, including seven children.
In the Kherson region, 46 settlements remain flooded, of which: 32 – in the controlled territory, 14 – in the temporarily occupied.
