Infection hubs equipped with rapid tests for diagnosing cholera were opened in southern Ukraine.
The infection hubs were deployed in the territories affected by the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by the Russians. Patients with chronic intestinal and other infectious diseases will be admitted there, the Ministry of Health reports.
Hubs of infection are available in Mykolaiv, Kherson and Dnepropetrovsk regions. Additional infectious beds have been deployed in hospitals in these regions.
The Ministry of Health noted that the government also approved a resolution that increased the cost of the package Readiness of the health care institution to provide medical care in emergency situations twice.
“This decision will allow hospitals to build a larger stock of the” medical basket “necessary to respond to potential outbreaks of infectious diseases in flooded areas,” the ministry said.
Any patient with a severe acute intestinal infection or gastrointestinal disorder should be further screened for cholera. Hospitals in Kherson, Mykolaiv and Dnepropetrovsk regions are ready to receive such patients. Medical institutions are provided with the necessary drugs, as well as means for rapid diagnosis of acute infectious diseases.
“In particular, some hospitals in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions have already been provided with the necessary drugs, including kits for the diagnosis and treatment of cholera. These are rapid tests for basic diagnosis and special sets of drugs and medical equipment for treatment,” the Ministry of Health said.
The department ensures that the epidemiological situation in southern Ukraine is currently predictable and manageable. If there are not enough doctors of a certain specialization in the Kherson region, they will attract specialists from other areas. If there are outbreaks of infectious diseases, additional infectious disease hospitals will be deployed in nearby regions.
In Odessa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions, 38 water monitoring points of surface water bodies (rivers and seas) were formed along the channel and sea coast. According to the results of the research, the water that is centrally supplied or delivered to the population meets the State Sanitary Rules and Regulations and is safe for consumption.
The Ministry of Health urges not to use individual wells and wells in areas where flooding is reduced. Water from them can be obtained only after checking and disinfection.
Recall that in the territories flooded as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by the Russians, as well as in other regions of Ukraine, no cholera was found.
