The investigation suggests that Supreme Court judge Sergei Storozhenko may be involved in a bribery case.
Supreme Court Judge Sergei Storozhenko, who appears in the case of bribery of the head of the Armed Forces Vsevolod Knyazev, resigned a few days before the searches. This is stated in the decision of the High Council of Justice.
Storozhenko resigned four days before the searches, on May 11. The High Council of Justice satisfied the judge’s application on June 8, dismissing him.
Ukrayinska Pravda reported that on the night of May 15-16, the judge’s house was ransacked. The detectives only got his iPhone, they didn’t get any money.
The investigation suggests that the judge may be involved in a bribery case. According to the prosecutor, part of the criminal funds could be taken from the premises of the Supreme Court in Storozhenko’s car. The suspicion was not revealed to the judge.
The prosecutor said that during the search, Storozhenko did not open the door to employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau for about an hour and a half. And then on his phone they found instant messengers with a deleted letter. Law enforcement officials turned over the iPhone for examination, believing the deleted letter might contain important information for the investigation.
The lawyer Storozhenko assured that the judge had nothing to do with the events with criminal punishment.
It is known that in May, two more Supreme Court judges resigned. These are Larisa Moroz and Alexander Zolotnikov. In addition, two more judges submitted their resignations in April: Tatyana Matiek and Vyacheslav Marynych, who later changed his mind about leaving his position.
The investigation did not reveal the names of the judges, who, except for the head of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Knyazev, were searched. At the same time, it became known from the public court register that marked funds from the bribe were found in the apartment of Judge Zhanna Yelenina. We are talking about 50 thousand dollars. Also, according to media reports, another person involved in the case, whose property has been largely arrested, could be Judge Irina Grigorieva.
Recall that on May 15, NABU detectives detained Vsevolod Knyazev, Chairman of the Supreme Court, for a bribe of $2.7 million. Law enforcement officers confiscated part of the money from his home, another part – in his office.
The next day, the Supreme Court removed Knyazev from his post. And on May 18, he was taken into custody until July 14.
