In the spring, the Holodomor was recognized as a genocide of Ukrainians by the lower house of the Belgian parliaments, the Icelandic parliament and the upper house of the French parliament, as well as the Slovenian parliament and the British House of Commons.
The Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg adopted a resolution recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. It was announced on Tuesday, June 13, on the website of the Luxembourg Parliament.
The text of the approved resolution recognizing the Holodomor in Ukraine as genocide has not been published.
In the decision of the representatives of Western countries reacted Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
“I welcome the historic vote of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg to recognize the Stalinist Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide against the Ukrainians. This step honors the millions of victims and restores historical justice. The international recognition of the Holodomor-genocide continues to grow,” wrote the Foreign Minister.
The Holodomor has already been recognized as a genocide of the Ukrainian people by the parliaments of almost three dozen countries in the world, including Europe.
In November 2006, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law “On the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine”, defining the events of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
It should be noted that in 1932-1933, by creating an artificial mass hunger, an act of genocide of the Ukrainian people was committed, organized by the leadership of the CPSU (b) and the government of the USSR.
The French Senate supported the recognition of the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
