The counter-offensive will be bloody and heavy, because the Russians have built serious fortifications, the NATO Secretary General said.
The offensive of the Ukrainian army in the Eastern and Southern territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by Russia is showing the first signs of success. This is what NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, USA Today reports on Tuesday, June 13.
According to him, the Ukrainians are gradually “gaining positions”, recapturing some small settlements from the Russians, but he warns against expectations of a quick victory.
“We must be prepared for the fact that this offensive will be bloody and difficult. The Russians managed to build fortifications – they are quite heavy defensive lines, and destroying them is a difficult task, Stoltenberg said.
According to him, the Russian troops, who encountered the offensive of the Ukrainian forces, were worse equipped and provided.
“But what we see is that the Ukrainians have the courage, the determination to liberate the land … and push the Russians back,” added the Secretary General of NATO.
Recall that in one week the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated seven settlements – Lobkovoe, Levadnoe, Novodarovka, Neskuchnoe, Storozhevoe, Makarovka, Blagodatnoye.
