CNN Host asked GOP Rep. Why Texas Moved Fast to Protect Embryos But Not Children –

CNN presenter Alice Camerotta on Wednesday asked a Republican lawmaker why Texas law doesn’t use the same joy it used to ban abortions to protect living babies from gun violence.

In an interview with Texas state representative James White Tuesday after a horrific shooting at an elementary school in Waldall, Camerotta asked lawmakers to offer a solution.

“And the reason I’m asking is that we’ve all seen how fast and creative Texas – the local legislature – can act when it wants to protect, say, an unborn embryo,” he said.

“Why don’t I act quickly to protect the 10 year olds who live and breathe behind me at this school?”

“Use the same plan you used for your abortion law. Set waiting periods, forcing them to return to the stage multiple times. Force them to answer their questions. Why can’t you protect the lives of 10 -year -old children? “

CNN @AlisynCamerota Texas State Representative James White (R) asked “We’ve all seen how fast and creative Texas, the local legislature, can act when it wants to, for example, protect an unborn embryo. Why not act at that speed? ”

“Let me tell you why we didn’t do this procedure in accordance with the law you introduced, because it deals with the innocent childless life in the womb,” White replied. “Because we have this thing called the constitution.”

He said that “for some reason these young people are in a very emotional state” and “we need to take care of our mental health system.”

“There’s no evidence that there’s a mental health problem here, sir,” said CNN’s Victor Blackwell, who was also included in the segment. “The governor said there is no known link between mental health and illness.”

White said that “illness is a state of mental health.”

“We are always looking for a gun. “But at the end of the day, we’re going to look at the people who do it, we’re going to try to punish them,” White said.

The killer was killed, killing 19 elementary students and two teachers at Robbie Elementary School on Tuesday. Retaliatory officers shot him.

“Sir, you can’t judge him,” Camerota said. He says. “He was killed. He was behind me at school with 19 children”.

Blackwell then said White recommended that school buildings not have multiple entrances and exits in 2018 after the mass shooting at Houston’s Santa Fe High School.

This is who you are [recommended] Four years ago. Is this really the only thing that needs to be done to protect students in schools? “

White replied: “I don’t know the architecture or layout of the elementary.” He then said that “you can have a safe building and at the same time have a building that stimulates learning and compassion.” It is not clear what he means by this or what solution he is offering.

While elected Republicans blame everything from mental illness to illness Architecture As a result of the massive hunt, the research is clear: The United States has more hunting than any other developed country, because of the quantity of weapons, the types of weapons allowed, and poor control over their purchase.
